You Can — & Will — Help Shape This
For real, you can co-create this thing with your feedback....
Today’s Friday Loveletter is a lot different than usual.
In short, it’s pretty down-to-business and full of some logistics — with three key things to convey.
Thing One
I need you — yes, you! — to fill out a Reader Survey.
Don’t think “oh, I don’t have time.”
There are only three required questions, and you can easily answer them in a minute. I do hope you go beyond those three questions, though, to answer the next three (optional) questions…
… because those should only take you a couple more minutes.
In short:
Only six questions. Only three required.
In total, I don’t expect you to spend more than five minutes on this.
BUT… the huge value of your simple, quick feedback here is incalculable.
Click through for the survey here!
Thing Two
To show you how much I appreciate and value your responses, I’m offering $10 gift cards to buy yourself a coffee/treat.
Three of you who fill out the survey will be eligible.
Here’s the important part:
I won’t be able to tell who fills out the survey (responses are anonymous!)… so there is one extra step to be entered to win a gift card: click the heart on this post.
All of those who click the heart will be eligible for a gift card!
Thing Three
I don’t know how to explain it exactly, but we’ve reached some kind of milestone with this For the Love of Humanity project.
I just have a very clear sense — without knowing the answers yet — that what this project has been so far… is not what it will be going forward.
I came out of the gate with this publication in June 2024, freshly emerging from my “cancer cocoon” and starting to re-enter the world I had inhabited before, though as a much different sort of human being, one who had transformed profoundly from when I last moved through this world.
There were things I knew I needed to say, to lay the foundation for my next chapter… so I largely listened to my heart and spirit when deciding what topics to cover.
Now, I’m strongly feeling like that era has come to a close.
And I have an inkling that part of why may be that I’ve reached a significant milestone in my healing/recovery: I’ve just passed the mark of having spent as much time emerging from treatment as I spent in treatment.
In other words, when I passed the three-year mark since my breast cancer diagnosis, which you may recall me mentioning last month, I also passed a mark that those “in the know” had told me was important. According to their wisdom, it usually takes the same amount of time to recover from treatment… and start to feel more like yourself again… as the time you spent in treatment.
At three years from diagnosis, I was there. I had spent one-and-a-half years in treatment… and the same amount of time emerging from it.
And here I am now — somehow feeling like a new chapter awaits…
…and counting on you — the community that has gathered around this call to center love for each other and our shared humanity — to help me write it.
Your willingness to fill out the survey will help me do that.
Beyond that, I ask you to give me a little space and patience.
I plan to pause all publishing next week, to give me the room I need to reflect.
My hope is that I’ll be in conversation with your survey responses during that time (!)… and I’ll also be in conversation with myself and my overall purpose in this work.
Take care, friends.
I’ll plan to visit you in your inboxes — and start publishing posts at the online home of For the Love of Humanity — again in the week of October 20th.
